# Former Barclays CEO says recent global market turbulence is a healthy correction, not a sign of a bear market

Former Barclays CEO Bob Diamond stated that the recent turmoil in global markets resembles a "healthy pullback," and he expects that this situation will not deteriorate into a bear market as investors attempt to assess various aspects of technological change.

Diamond mentioned that risk assets have already been repriced. In his view, this is a healthy pullback rather than the beginning of a bear market.

The S&P 500 index has fallen more than 3% this month, likely marking its worst monthly performance since March, while market volatility has also surged significantly. The sell-off of major global tech companies has reignited debates about AI, questioning whether AI can generate enough revenue or profit to justify its massive investments in infrastructure.

In an interview in Singapore, Diamond stated, "I would feel comfortable looking at the impact of AI from a two, three, or five-year perspective."
