description: "Tesla's FSD v14.2 update introduces Self-Driving Stats, allowing owners to track FSD usage. The update includes neural network improvements for better handling of emergency vehicles and obstacles. New pre-drive controls let drivers set speed and parking preferences. While early feedback is positive, some issues remain, such as challenges in ascending parking garages. The update is available for AI4 vehicles, with AI3 vehicles awaiting future upgrades."

# Tesla FSD v14.2 Introduces Self-Driving Stats and Smarter Pre-Drive Controls

Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (Supervised) v14.2 rollout, bundled with software update 2025.38.9.5, has started reaching drivers with AI4 (HW4) vehicles, and alongside the usual driving behaviour improvements, it introduces a useful new feature: Self-Driving Stats.

Available under the Autopilot tab, the new section gives owners a clear look at how much they’re actually using Full Self-Driving. It tracks the percentage of miles (or kilometers) driven with FSD enabled, total self-driving distance, and overall distance traveled. However, these stats are not historical and only accumulate since updating to v14.2.

For many owners, this finally puts real data behind the “how often do you really use FSD?” debate — and makes it easier to compare usage patterns over time.

Additionally, these stats are tied to the vehicle rather than individual driver profiles. That means if you share your Tesla with someone who doesn’t regularly use FSD, your numbers will still reflect their manual driving. While that limits personalization, it still adds a new layer of insight for owners tracking long-term usage and system performance.

Aside from this nice-to-have feature, Tesla is also pushing some meaningful upgrades to the FSD neural network. As outlined in the official release notes, “Upgraded the neural network vision encoder, leveraging higher resolution features to further improve scenarios like handling emergency vehicles, obstacles on the road, and human gestures”.

FSD v14.2 also adds several quality-of-life improvements before you even start driving. Drivers can now configure their speed profile and parking preferences while still in Park. That includes selecting driving behaviour and choosing where FSD should attempt to park — whether that’s in a parking lot, on the street, in a driveway, a parking garage, or curbside. This change removes an extra layer of friction and makes fully automated drives feel more intentional and customized.

Early real-world impressions have been largely positive, particularly in poor weather conditions. One driver testing the update during heavy rain reported smoother behaviour, with no brake twitching or hesitation and the vehicle reacting to a large puddle on the side of the road.

That said, not everything is perfect. Some testers have noticed that while FSD handles descending multi-level parking garages well, it can struggle more on ascents, occasionally showing steering wheel twitching or making less confident decisions in complex indoor layouts. There were also minor concerns about slightly off-center parking, which remains an issue in v14.2.

As mentioned at the top of the article, v14.2 is still limited to vehicles with AI4 (HW4). Owners of AI3 (HW3) vehicles are still on FSD v12, and will have to wait until next year before receiving a meaningful upgrade, referred to as “v14 lite.”
