# Rivian develops its own AI chips to be manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor, replacing Nvidia technology

Electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian (RIVN.US) has developed its own artificial intelligence chip to replace NVIDIA (NVDA.US) technology, and the chip will be manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM.US).

Rivian will equip its upcoming R2 sports utility vehicle with the Rivian Autonomy Processor 1 chip and a new lidar sensor. The development of this chip, along with the new sensor and artificial intelligence models, supports Rivian's goal of providing autonomous driving capabilities
