(Image credit: Mini) BMW's Mini brand has launched the 2026 electric Mini Cooper in China with a limited-time starting price of RMB 153,800 ($21,830). Mini offers two variants -- the Mini Cooper E and Mini Cooper SE -- with suggested retail prices starting at RMB 209,800 and RMB 239,800 respectively. Chinese customers purchasing the model on or before December 31 can enjoy limited-time discounts, lowering the starting price to RMB 153,800 and RMB 187,800 respectively. Join us on Telegram or Google News The 2026 electric Mini Cooper is a four-seat compact car measuring 3,858 mm in length, 1,756 mm in width, and 1,458 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,526 mm. The single-motor front-wheel-drive model offers two powertrain options, with the front motor delivering maximum power outputs of 135 kW and 160 kW respectively. The two variants can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds and 7.1 seconds. It comes standard with a 51.5-kWh ternary lithium battery pack, delivering a CLTC range of 452 km or 456 km. The 2026 electric Mini Cooper supports fast charging, enabling a charge from 10 percent to 80 percent within 30 minutes. Mini models in China are primarily sold through Spotlight Automotive, a joint venture between BMW China and GWM (HKG: 2333, SHA: 601633). Established in December 2019, the joint venture operates its headquarters and vehicle production facility in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province, eastern China. The production base has a planned annual capacity of 160,000 vehicles and represents BMW's first dedicated electric vehicle joint venture globally. Current Mini electric models in China include the Mini Cooper, Mini Aceman, Mini JCW, and Mini JCW Aceman. China-made new BMW iX3 to debut driver-assist system developed by BMW and Momenta BMW and Momenta are conducting development and testing across four bases in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenyang, and Nanjing.
