(Image credit: Onvo) Onvo, a sub-brand of Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO, HKG: 9866), officially launched the L60 Violet Edition today following yesterday's preview of the limited-edition model. The Onvo L60 Violet Edition, including its 60-kWh battery pack, starts at RMB 214,900 ($30,520). This represents an RMB 8,000 or 3.87 percent premium over the base RMB 206,900 price of the midsize electric SUV (sport utility vehicle). Limited to 666 units, the special variant is available for immediate delivery to customers placing orders now. Under the BaaS (Battery as a Service) plan, the Onvo L60 Violet Edition starts at RMB 157,900 with a monthly battery rental fee of RMB 599. The launch of the limited edition aims to expand marketing reach at lower costs and enhance brand visibility. Meanwhile, its rapid delivery enables Onvo to deliver as many vehicles as possible before year-end to capitalize on this year's more favorable purchase tax policies. For 2024-2025, China continues its NEV purchase tax exemption, with a maximum tax reduction of RMB 30,000 per vehicle. From 2026 to 2027, China's NEV purchase tax will be levied at half the standard rate of 10 percent, equating to a 5 percent tax rate, with a maximum tax reduction of RMB 15,000 per vehicle. The L60 five-seat SUV is Onvo's inaugural model, officially launched on September 19, 2024. On September 19 this year, Onvo launched the updated L60 to mark the vehicle's one-year anniversary. On December 5, Onvo rolled out the L60 Black Knight Edition, limited to 666 units. Its starting price, including the battery pack, was RMB 211,900 -- RMB 5,000 or 2.42 percent higher than the standard model. The L60 Black Knight Edition is currently unavailable. As of yesterday, Onvo's website still displayed the variant. ## Special edition models launched by Nio Inc in 2025 Onvo unveils plan to double available battery packs at swap stations in following month Onvo plans to add over 8,000 new battery packs compatible with its vehicles at battery swap stations by mid-January 2026.
