# AMC's closing price hits a historic low for the sixth consecutive trading day

AMC Entertainment Holdings' stock price fell on Monday, continuing a long streak of declines, as investors largely ignored an announcement from the chain of theaters stating that it had just recorded its largest pre-Christmas weekend box office in four years. As AMC disclosed the latest amendments to its debt security terms, which include the possibility of further selling common stock in the open market, investors seemed to shift their focus to the company's funding issues.

AMC's stock closed down 2.9% on Monday, at $1.70. For this once iconic meme stock, this marks its 10th consecutive trading day of decline (the longest losing streak since the 11-day drop that ended on January 27, 2022), and its closing price has set a new historical low for six consecutive days.

Despite the company stating that it experienced its best pre-Christmas holiday weekend since 2021 based on theater attendance and ticket revenue, the sell-off continued. This strong performance was primarily driven by Walt Disney Company's "Avatar: Fire and Ash," which, according to Box Office Mojo data, achieved $88 million in domestic box office over the past weekend, making it the seventh highest box office for the first weekend of December
