As of January 2, 2026, the price was $534.00 per 1,000 board feet, down 1.6% from the previous year. Seasonal demand typically peaks in the first half of the year, but current prices indicate weak demand for framing lumber despite ongoing tariffs." datetime: "2026-01-04T13:12:44.000Z" locales: - [zh-CN](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/news/271425404.md) - [en](https://longbridge.com/en/news/271425404.md) - [zh-HK](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/news/271425404.md) --- > 支持的语言: [English](https://longbridge.com/en/news/271425404.md) | [繁體中文](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/news/271425404.md) # Update: Lumber Prices Mostly Unchanged Year-over-year by Here is another update on lumber prices. i The CME group discontinued the Random Length Lumber Futures contract on May 16, 2023. I switched to a physically-delivered Lumber Futures contract that was started in August 2022. Unfortunately, this impacts long term price comparisons since the new contract was priced about 24% higher than the old random length contract for the period when both contracts were available. This graph shows CME random length framing futures through August 2022 (blue), and the new physically-delivered Lumber Futures (LBR) contract starting in August 2022 (Red). On January 2, 2026, LBR was at $534.00 per 1,000 board feet, down 1.6% from a year ago. p There is somewhat of a seasonal demand for lumber, and lumber prices frequently peak in the first half of the year. The pickup in early 2018 was due to the Trump lumber tariffs in 2017. There were huge increases during the pandemic due to a combination of supply constraints and a pickup in housing starts. Now, even with the tariffs, prices are mostly unchanged year-over-year suggesting weak demand for framing lumber. ## 相关资讯与研究 - [Scientists break lignin’s strongest bonds to turn wood waste into valuable fuel](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/news/280915161.md) - [Report reveals inflation will come roaring back under Trump](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/news/281421192.md) - [Trump: I think we'll make a deal with them pretty soon…](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/news/280929294.md) - [17:31 ETJ&J Exterminating Reminds Residents to prepare for Termite Swarm Season](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/news/281251442.md) - [How Trump’s new drug tariffs could affect prescription prices](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/news/281584883.md)
