# Understanding the Market | YOFC opened nearly 15% higher, Corning secures a large fiber optic order from Meta, the company benefits from the industry's recovery

According to Zhitong Finance APP, YOFC (06869) opened nearly 15% higher and as of the time of writing, it has risen by 14.97%, trading at HKD 74.9, with a transaction volume of HKD 66.3614 million.

On the news front, Corning's stock price surged over 15% overnight, reaching a historic high. Reports indicate that to keep up with the artificial intelligence boom and advance the construction of large data centers, Meta has committed to paying Corning up to USD 6 billion by 2030 for the fiber optic cables needed for AI data centers. To meet the demands of major clients like Meta, Google, and Microsoft, Corning is expanding its factories, which will become the largest fiber optic cable factory in the world upon completion. This move is also part of the industry's multi-trillion-dollar expansion plan. Mike O'Day, head of Corning's fiber business, emphasized that meeting demand is currently the company's main challenge, noting that Meta's data center in Louisiana alone requires 8 million miles of fiber.

First Shanghai Research pointed out that YOFC is the leader in the global fiber optic cable industry, consistently holding the number one market share in fiber preform, fiber, and cable. The three main preform preparation processes, "PCVD + VAD + OVD," have the highest integration of preform and cable, with strong cost control capabilities. The company's performance is under pressure in the first half of 2025, but the downward trend of both volume and price in the telecom market for fiber optic cables is nearing its end. The company will fully benefit from the domestic cycle bottoming out and warming up, overseas expansion hedging, and the demand upgrade driven by AI computing power, and is about to enter a performance upturn period
