According to a report by RIA Novosti on February 2, the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Yerzhan Mukhamedzhanov, stated in an interview with the media that more than 10 countries and organizations have submitted applications to join the SCO. RIA Novosti reported that Mukhamedzhanov also mentioned the topic of increasing SCO membership in the interview. "We believe this reflects the achievements of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the past and indicates that its international prestige continues to rise, and the attractiveness of the principles it advocates continues to strengthen," he said.
