# Trump is about to hold a press conference to implement an alternative tariff plan

After the Supreme Court overturned most of the globally extensive tariff policies implemented during Trump's second presidential term, Trump will hold a press conference. The court's ruling dealt a significant blow to his signature economic policies.

White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt stated that Trump will speak to the media at 12:45 PM New York time.

The court ruled by a vote of 6 to 3 that Trump's use of the Federal Emergency Powers Act to implement "reciprocal" tariffs globally and the government's imposition of targeted import taxes to combat fentanyl trafficking exceeded his authority.

Anonymous sources revealed that during a closed-door meeting with state governors at the White House, Trump called the Supreme Court's ruling "a disgrace" and vowed to implement an alternative plan.

The justices did not rule on the extent of importers' rights to refunds, leaving that to lower courts to handle. If full refunds are supported, the scale could reach $170 billion, exceeding half of Trump's tariff revenue
