# Amazon acquires George Washington University's Virginia Tech campus for $427 million to build a data center

Amazon's subsidiary Amazon Data Services will acquire the Virginia Tech campus located in Ashburn, Virginia, from George Washington University for $427 million. The university announced this news on Monday.

According to the university's newspaper, the agreement authorizes Amazon to build a data or information technology center within the campus. Amazon has not yet commented on this. George Washington University, based in Washington, stated that the agreement allows the school to choose to continue related projects in the campus over the next five years
