The company disclosed that recent drone attacks in the Middle East have caused **damage to three of its data centers**. Amazon Web Services (AWS) has confirmed for the first time that drones **directly hit** two of its facilities located in the UAE. In Bahrain, a drone attack near another facility also caused infrastructure damage. "We are working hard to restore services to full availability as quickly as possible, but given the nature of the physical damage, the recovery process is expected to **take a long time**," Amazon stated in the announcement. Currently, AWS customers are facing issues with **increased error rates and decreased service availability**. The damage and service interruptions indicate that the impact of the Middle East conflict is expanding, with explosions affecting Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE. The economic impact has spread to the global energy market, with oil prices soaring and tanker transport through the Strait of Hormuz **nearly coming to a halt** due to risks. At 4:19 AM UAE time on Tuesday, AWS announced on its official website that **two of its three regional data center clusters remain severely damaged**. Although the third availability zone is operating normally, "some services have also experienced indirect impacts due to reliance on the affected areas." AWS stated that it is working to repair the damaged facilities and advised customers in the Middle East to **back up their data** and consider migrating their operations to other AWS regions. Amazon operates 123 availability zone data centers across 39 regions worldwide. "While we are fully committed to repairing the facilities, the ongoing regional conflict means that the overall operational environment in the Middle East **remains highly uncertain**," AWS stated on its official website.
