# Jack Ma makes an appearance in the New Year! Discusses AI

**"Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily" March 3 news (Reporter Xu Cihao)** Jack Ma makes a rare appearance in the New Year!

According to reporters from "Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily," on March 3, Jack Ma visited Hangzhou YunGu School, accompanied by: Alibaba Group Chairman Joseph Tsai, CEO Eric Wu, Chairman of the Risk Committee Shao Xiaofeng, CEO of the E-commerce Business Group Jiang Fan, as well as Ant Group Chairman Jing Xiandong and CEO Han Xinyi.

Jack Ma, along with the core management of Alibaba and Ant, gathered rarely, reflecting a high emphasis on the development of AI.

In the discussion, Jack Ma candidly stated that the AI era is rapidly approaching, and its impact on society exceeds imagination. None of us are adequately prepared, but for teenagers, they have the greatest hope and opportunity for change. Therefore, the purpose of this visit to YunGu School is to share Alibaba's increasingly clear insights on AI with the teachers.

Currently, AI iterations are calculated on a weekly basis, and capabilities are continuously growing. This technological revolution brings historical changes to production efficiency and various aspects of society. In the future, it may be possible to work less than 8 hours a day, and social wealth will be greatly enriched, but many job types will disappear.

Jack Ma stated, "The reason we all came to YunGu is to tell everyone that this change will come very quickly. We need to make rapid changes to help children learn to coexist with AI from now on and adapt to this huge change."

Around the core capabilities of the AI era, the management teams of Alibaba and Ant shared their views one by one.

Joseph Tsai believes that critical thinking ability is key, and its core is not "asking questions," but "asking the right questions." In the future, human-machine collaboration and interpersonal communication will become core competencies.

Eric Wu stated that the three characteristics that distinguish humans from machines are curiosity, empathy, and physical strength: machines execute passively, while humans explore actively due to curiosity; empathy is the underlying ability to understand others; as cognitive work is largely replaced by AI, the value of physical and athletic skills will significantly increase.

Jing Xiandong expressed that AI should take on trivial repetitive tasks, freeing human time for aesthetic, creative, and imaginative cultivation, while also maintaining independent thinking to avoid over-reliance on technology.

In Jack Ma's view, under the impact of AI, education is ushering in an opportunity to return to its essence. The time spent on traditional rote memorization and mechanical problem-solving can be significantly released, shifting towards cultivating creativity and imagination, allowing children more time to experience art, sports, and collaboration.

Jack Ma said that judging whether a school is suitable for the AI era does not depend on the number of servers and the level of technical equipment, but on the upgrade of educational philosophy—AI has chips, while humans have souls. Teachers should shift from knowledge transmitters to "soul engineers." The core of education is no longer about competing in calculation and memory, but about safeguarding curiosity, honing empathy, and cultivating judgment and aesthetic ability, which are core human qualities that AI finds difficult to replicate.

Alibaba continues to intensify its layout in the AI field.

During the Spring Festival, Alibaba's AI-related products saw a phase of growth: the new generation large model Qwen3.5-Plus showed improved performance in multiple public evaluations, with some indicators comparable to international mainstream models like Gemini 3 Pro; on the cost side, its API pricing is about 1/18 of some comparable products At the same time, the user scale and activity of the Tongyi Qianwen APP have grown significantly, further increasing its penetration rate in the domestic AI application market.

In terms of technical architecture, the collaboration among Tongyi Lab, Alibaba Cloud, and Pingtouge has become closer, gradually forming a self-research system covering chips, cloud computing, and large models. Pingtouge has launched AI chip products such as Zhenwu 810E, supporting large-scale cluster deployments; Alibaba Cloud maintains a leading position in the Asia-Pacific market, providing the computational power foundation for AI training and inference; Tongyi Qianwen continues to iterate on open-source models, entering the global mainstream open-source camp.

Reporters from the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily noted that currently, there are not many companies that are simultaneously laying out in the three major fields of large models, cloud computing, and self-researched chips while achieving a certain degree of synergy, with Alibaba and Google being more representative cases
