# Energy conservation is king! The rise of magnetic levitation compressors, the new darling of the billion-level energy-saving market

When it comes to compressors, many may feel that they are far removed from our lives, not realizing that they have already permeated every aspect of life and industry—central air conditioning in shopping malls, production lines in factories, refrigerated warehouses in cold chain logistics, and even oxygen generation equipment in hospitals all rely on its "silent contribution."

However, for a long time, the pain points of traditional screw and centrifugal compressors—"high energy consumption, high noise, high maintenance"—have troubled enterprises and industries. It wasn't until the emergence of **maglev compressors** that this deadlock was completely broken, becoming a "new force" in the energy-saving arena.

Recently, companies related to maglev compressors in the capital market have also welcomed their "shining moment," with stocks like #HANBELL (002158), #Kaishan Group (300257), and #MOON-TECH (000811) continuously strengthening, prompting investors to refocus on this undervalued niche market.

So, what is the "magic" of maglev compressors? What is the current state of industry development? Which companies can stand out in this competition? Today, I will take you to explore.

**1\. Breaking Traditional Shackles, What Makes Maglev Compressors "Stand Out"?**

In simple terms, the **core advantage** of maglev compressors lies in "contactless, frictionless" operation—they use electromagnetic force to suspend the compressor rotor, completely eliminating the mechanical bearings of traditional compressors, achieving "hovering operation" like a maglev train.

This unique design allows them to significantly outperform traditional compressors, and the difference can be intuitively felt through a set of data: compared to traditional screw compressors, the energy-saving rate of maglev compressors generally reaches **20%–35%**; in large data centers or industrial scenarios, combined with variable frequency control, the overall energy-saving rate can reach **30%–50%**.

For example, a commercial maglev centrifugal machine with a cooling capacity of 1000RT can save approximately 300,000–500,000 kWh of electricity annually. Based on an industrial electricity price of 0.8 yuan per kWh, the annual electricity cost savings would be approximately **240,000–400,000 yuan**.

In addition, operational and maintenance costs can also be significantly reduced. Due to the absence of mechanical friction and the need for a lubrication system, wear parts are reduced by over 80%, with annual maintenance costs only **1/5–1/3** of traditional centrifugal machines, and the overall design life can reach 20–25 years, significantly higher than the 10–15 years of traditional models Against the backdrop of stricter requirements for indicators such as Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) for data centers, the importance of magnetic levitation compressors is becoming increasingly prominent.

**II. Triple Dividend Resonance, Industry Enters Explosive Growth Period**

In the author's view, the rise of magnetic levitation compressors is not accidental, but rather the result of a triple resonance of policy drive, demand upgrade, and technological breakthroughs, with a hundred billion-level efficient energy-saving market accelerating its formation.

From the policies released by the government in the past two years, magnetic levitation centrifugal compressors have been included in the "Key Promotion Catalog of Energy-Saving Technology Equipment." Many regions offer purchase subsidies of **10%–30%** to enterprises purchasing efficient magnetic levitation equipment.

According to incomplete statistics, by the end of 2025, more than 20 provincial-level administrative regions in the country have introduced supporting policies, with a cumulative allocation of special funds for energy-saving renovations exceeding 12 billion yuan, focusing on promoting the application of magnetic levitation technology in public buildings and industrial fields such as data centers, hospitals, and rail transit.

The second aspect is the demand upgrade. Currently, the annual electricity consumption of industrial compressors in China accounts for about **9%–10%** of the country's total electricity consumption. If magnetic levitation technology is fully promoted in applicable scenarios, professional institutions estimate that the annual electricity-saving potential exceeds **50 billion kWh**, reducing carbon emissions by about **40 million tons**.

According to data from the China Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association, the market size of magnetic levitation centrifugal compressors in China is expected to be about **6.3 billion yuan** in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 42%. It is expected to reach 30–35 billion yuan by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of about **28%–30%** from 2024 to 2030, still far exceeding the growth rate of the traditional compressor industry at **5%–8%**.

From the application structure, data centers and commercial buildings (including central air conditioning) account for about 55%, making it the largest application scenario. Emerging fields such as medical and cold chain logistics account for about 13%, with the fastest growth rate, expected to increase by **68%** year-on-year in 2024.

In terms of technology, in the past, the core technology of magnetic levitation compressors was dominated by foreign companies such as Danfoss (Turbocor) from Denmark and Ingersoll Rand from the United States, with high overall machine prices (the price of a 1000RT model is about 5 million–8 million yuan).

In recent years, domestic companies have made breakthroughs in core areas such as magnetic levitation bearings, high-speed permanent magnet motors, and intelligent control systems through independent research and development. Currently, there are over 1,200 related patents for domestic magnetic levitation compressors, with the localization rate of core components increasing from 32% in 2020 to over **75%**, and the overall machine price has decreased by 30%–40% **III. Listed Companies Compete on the Same Stage, Who Will Stand Out?**

With the industry's explosion, multiple A-share companies are actively laying out plans, forming a differentiated competitive landscape.

By 2025, there will be over 50 domestic companies involved in magnetic levitation compressors or core components, of which about **20** have mass production capabilities. Small and medium-sized enterprises are mostly concentrated in the mid-to-low-end market, with the risk of price wars beginning to emerge.

HANBELL, as the domestic leader in magnetic levitation centrifugal machines, has currently achieved a cooling capacity range of 125-900RT for its magnetic levitation centrifugal machines, leading domestically. However, even so, the company has stated that the magnetic levitation compressor business currently accounts for a small proportion of overall performance, as the entire industry has not yet experienced a major explosion.

Kaishan Group indeed has a deep technical accumulation in the compressor field. In the first three quarters of 2025, the company's operating income was 3.441 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of **10.65%**, and the net profit attributable to the parent company was 304 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of **38.05%**, also achieving growth.

In terms of technological innovation, Yinghuate (301272) officially launched its magnetic levitation centrifugal compressor at its headquarters in Changshu at the end of last year, marking the company's completion of a key layout from scroll to centrifugal technology.

Overall, magnetic levitation compressors, with their core advantages of high energy efficiency, low operation and maintenance costs, and quiet environmental protection, have entered a **high-speed growth** channel driven by both the "dual carbon" goals and the demand for cost reduction by enterprises. The author believes that leading companies with core technologies, binding top customers, and stable gross margins are likely to emerge victorious in the industry reshuffle.

It is foreseeable that magnetic levitation compressors will replace traditional models in more high-efficiency scenarios, becoming a "key link" in the green and low-carbon transition. This industry upgrade driven by technological innovation will continue to release new investment opportunities.
