# Iran: Today may elect the Supreme Leader! Trump again absurdly claims: hopes to participate in the selection of Iran's next leader

According to a report by Xinhua News Agency, citing a statement from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran on the 7th, a member of the Assembly of Experts in Iran stated that the meeting to elect the Supreme Leader of Iran will be held within the next 24 hours.

Ayatollah Muzafari, a member of the Assembly of Experts, indicated that the members are currently waiting for the right conditions to prudently elect a new Supreme Leader.

Muzafari mentioned that, as of now, there has been no public meeting or election, urging the public not to believe in rumors.

The Assembly of Experts is the highest authority responsible for electing, supervising, and dismissing the Supreme Leader of Iran.

## Trump again claims: hopes to participate in the selection of the next leader

On March 7 local time, a CCTV reporter learned that U.S. President Trump expressed his hope to participate in the selection of Iran's next leader, stating that he does not want the U.S. to "face the same problem every five or ten years."

On the 5th, Trump stated that he "must personally participate" in selecting Iran's next leader. He mentioned that he would not accept the son of the late Supreme Leader Khamenei as the new leader of Iran, saying, "I must personally be involved in the appointment."
