# Aluminum prices rise to a nearly four-year high, at least two large smelters in the Middle East suspend supply

Amid the escalating situation in the Middle East, aluminum prices have risen to a nearly four-year high due to disruptions in aluminum shipments caused by the Gulf War. The region accounts for about 9% of global aluminum supply, and traders are on high alert to respond to potential further transportation interruptions.

Aluminum prices on the London Metal Exchange rose by as much as 1.6% to $3,499.5 per ton, reaching a new high since April 2022. With at least two large smelters in the Middle East forced to suspend supply, U.S. metal buyers are scrambling to find alternative sources from Asia.

China Aluminum (02600.HK) opened today (9th) at HKD 13.59, down 0.59%, with a trading volume of 24.572 million shares and a transaction value of HKD 332 million
