# Oil prices plummet, stimulating a rebound in airline stocks. Cathay Pacific: Fuel surcharges are based on aviation fuel prices, not crude oil prices

With U.S. President Trump threatening that the war will "end soon," international oil prices plummeted, leading to a rebound in airline stocks. Among them, Cathay Pacific (293) rose nearly 6% this morning, reaching a high of HKD 12.89; currently reported at HKD 12.6, continuing to rise over 3.4%. In addition, Air China (753), China Eastern Airlines (670), and China Southern Airlines (1055) are currently up between 1.2% and 4%.

## Mechanism in Place to Review Fuel Surcharge Monthly

Regarding the fuel surcharge, Cathay Pacific responded that the company has an established mechanism to regularly review the level of the fuel surcharge on a monthly basis. At the same time, during the review process, the company primarily references the market price trends of aviation fuel rather than crude oil prices, and adjusts as necessary based on other relevant operational factors
