# "Hong Kong Stocks" The Hang Seng Index closed down 251 points, bank stocks under pressure, MTR Corporation and OOIL declined after earnings

Iran claims that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, leading to a downward trend in the peripheral stock markets, with Hong Kong stocks fluctuating lower. The Hang Seng Index opened down 133 points, with the early market decline narrowing to 19 points at 25,697 points, before the decline expanded to 296 points at 25,419 points, closing down 251 points or 1% at 25,465 points; the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index fell 28 points or 0.3%, closing at 8,671 points; the Hang Seng Tech Index dropped 49 points or 1%, closing at 4,978 points. The total market turnover for the day was HKD 246.542 billion.

In the U.S., financial institutions have further restricted redemptions from private credit funds, with HSBC (00005.HK) and Standard Chartered (02888.HK) falling 5% and 5.1%, respectively. Other financial stocks, including Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (00388.HK) and AIA (01299.HK), fell 1.2% and 3%. Oil prices rose overnight, with CNOOC (00883.HK) up 2.3% to HKD 29.76, reaching a new high of HKD 29.92 during the session, while Sinopec (00386.HK) fell 2.8%, Sinopec Engineering (02386.HK) dropped 5.9%, and oil equipment stock Shandong Molong (00568.HK) rose 5.2%, with a turnover of HKD 3.34 billion. Airline stocks China Southern Airlines (01055.HK), China Eastern Airlines (00670.HK), and Air China (00753.HK) each fell over 4%.

Market expectations for interest rate cuts have weakened, with gold prices dropping 1%. Zijin Mining International (02259.HK) fell 7.6%, while Shandong Gold (01787.HK), Zhaojin Mining (01818.HK), Zijin (02899.HK), and Lingbao Gold (03330.HK) fell between 3.7% and 5.3%. Commodity stock Luoyang Molybdenum (03993.HK) fell 4.9%.

Swire plans to place shares of Cathay Pacific (00293.HK) at a discount of over 9%, raising a net of HKD 1.79 billion, with Cathay falling 5.1%. Swire A (00019.HK) unexpectedly increased its dividend, causing its stock price to rise 3.1%. MTR Corporation (00066.HK) reported a 7% decline in annual net profit, in line with expectations, and the market is concerned about the visibility of capital expenditure for the next phase of the Northern Link, with its stock price falling 6.4%. Orient Overseas International (00316.HK) reported an annual net profit of USD 1.513 billion, down 41%, with its stock price falling 7.5%. Among peers, COSCO Shipping Holdings (01919.HK) fell 3.5%.

In the tech sector, Tencent (00700.HK), Alibaba (09988.HK), JD.com (09618.HK), and NetEase (09999.HK) rose between 0.1% and 0.7%, while Meituan (03690.HK) and Kuaishou (01024.HK) fell 1% and 1.7%, respectively, and Bilibili (09626.HK) fell 1.3%. Baidu (09888.HK) launched the world's first mobile lobster application "Red Hand Operator," with the founder of OpenClaw expressing willingness to co-develop, leading to a 1.5% rise in Baidu's stock Dongfang Zhenxuan (01797.HK) and Weimeng (02013.HK) fell over 5%. AI stock Shangtang (00020.HK) and Zhipu (02513.HK) dropped 3.3% and 4.6%, respectively, while MiniMax (00100.HK) and Yingsi Intelligent (03696.HK) fell 6.8% and 9.4%. In the chip sector, SMIC (00981.HK) and Hua Hong (01347.HK) decreased by 1.4% and 7.4%, respectively, and Tianneng Zhixin (09903.HK) dropped 7.5%. In the mobile component sector, BYD Electronics (00285.HK) fell 5%.

BYD (01211.HK) decreased by 1.5%. Li Auto (02015.HK) reported a non-GAAP net profit of 2.38 billion RMB last year, a decline of over 77%, with its stock price down 3.2%. Intelligent driving chip stock Horizon (09660.HK) fell 5.8%.

In other stocks, Labubu collaborated with Sanrio to launch a new blind box, which sold out online in one minute, while Pop Mart (09992.HK) fell 0.2%. Yihai (01579.HK) and Haidilao (06862.HK) dropped 9.3% and 4.5%, respectively, and Laopu Gold (06181.HK) fell 3.9%. JD Logistics (02618.HK) and JD Industry (07618.HK) retreated 3.9% and 7.5%. In the domestic property sector, Sunac China (01918.HK) rose 5.5%. Yaocai Securities (01428.HK) surged 34%, with a transaction volume of 3.79 billion.
