# Wang Xing: We should all strive to "reduce the taste of climbing," and internally, don't call me "Brother Xing" anymore

On the morning of March 13, Meituan held a management communication meeting for 2026, with over 2,000 managers participating both online and offline. Wang Xing shared his views on the grocery retail industry, internationalization, and the development of AI. When mentioning his expectations for the company's managers, Wang Xing stated, "I want to implement it into more specific points; we should all strive to reduce the 'flavor' starting from myself."

Wang Xing said, "For example, everyone is used to calling me 'Xing Ge,' and I think this is a clearly 'flavored' way of addressing. Although this actually started in 1997."

It is understood that "Xing Ge" is the internal nickname for Wang Xing at Meituan, which originated during his school years. Wang Xing also introduced the origin of his name "Xing Ge": "Because I shared a dormitory with Lao Wang (note: Meituan co-founder Wang Huiwen), and there were two people with the surname Wang in the dormitory. He is a few months older than me, so since we started school in 1997, he is Lao Wang, and I am Xing Ge, and it has continued like this."

Wang Xing said, "So, I have a very specific initiative. I hope everyone in the company will call each other by their names directly and no longer use 'XX Ge.' Starting from me, from this moment on, please do not call me Xing Ge anymore; just call me Wang Xing. I do not have an English name, and although I studied in the United States, I also do not have an English name. Let's start with ourselves and embrace new things and new trends."
