# Bridgewater's head of artificial intelligence will join Google's DeepMind

According to Demis Hassabis, the founder of Google's artificial intelligence department DeepMind, Jasjeet Sekhon, the chief scientist and head of artificial intelligence at Bridgewater Associates, will join DeepMind as the Chief Strategy Officer.

Hassabis announced on social media that Sekhon will join the Bridgewater Associates board after stepping down.

Over the past year, Google's DeepMind has launched several new artificial intelligence products, including an upgraded chatbot and the AI model Gemini, as well as a brand new AI photo editor called Nano Banana. Google's advancements in the field of artificial intelligence have nearly doubled its stock price over the past year.

Sekhon joined Bridgewater Associates in 2018 and played a key role in the establishment of its artificial intelligence research and investment lab, AIA Labs, which is led by Bridgewater's co-CIO Greg Jensen.

Sekhon did not hold any investment positions at Bridgewater, but he has served as a professor at several U.S. universities, including Harvard University, the University of California, Berkeley, and Yale University
