# Amazon chooses the UK as the European launch site for its AI voice assistant Alexa+

Amazon has introduced Alexa+ in the UK, making it the first European country to receive the AI voice assistant.

On Thursday (March 19), Amazon announced that as part of an early access program, Alexa+ is now available across the UK, with hundreds of thousands of customers expected to receive invitations in the coming weeks.

According to Amazon's announcement, Alexa is the most popular voice assistant, with UK users interacting with the system over 114 billion times in the past three years.

The company stated that this new model for UK users is designed to make it feel "authentically British."

The announcement said: "Alexa+ knows what 'a cup of tea' is, understands what you mean when you say you're 'knackered,' and knows that 'it's a bit chilly' means it's a bit cold outside. It might even throw in British expressions like 'you're having a laugh' or 'that's right' in conversation."
