The deal was announced at NVIDIA's annual GTC conference and involves multiple generations of GPU architectures, including Blackwell and Rubin, covering AWS's global cloud regions. The transaction also includes NVIDIA's Spectrum networking chips and the newly launched Groq processors. Financial terms have not been disclosed. Ian Buck, NVIDIA's Vice President of Hyperscale and High-Performance Computing, stated that chip deployment will begin this year and continue until 2027. AWS will utilize this combination of processors to accelerate AI inference, which is the stage where trained AI models apply learned patterns to generate predictions or content. Buck noted that "inference is extremely challenging" and pointed out that it requires multiple chips to work together.
