According to documents released by Meta on Tuesday, these stock options will be granted if the company achieves ambitious stock price targets in the coming years. A spokesperson for the company stated that these options will be awarded to executives directly responsible for the company's most important and strategically significant bets, as well as other senior leaders. The first batch of options will unlock if Meta's stock price reaches $1,116.08 per share (an 88% increase from current levels). The stock closed at $592.92 on the New York market on Tuesday. Subsequent batches of options are tied to more challenging stock price targets, with trigger ranges reaching as high as $3,727.12, more than six times the current stock price. Regardless of Meta's stock performance, all options will unlock for executives by August 2030; if not exercised, they will expire after five years. A spokesperson confirmed that CEO Mark Zuckerberg will not receive stock options. "This is a gamble," the Meta spokesperson said in a statement. "These compensation plans will not pay off unless Meta achieves tremendous success in the future that benefits all shareholders.
