# Google DeepMind collaborates with Agile Robots to expand its robotics business

Alphabet, the parent company of Google, has further ventured into the AI-driven robotics field through a newly established partnership with Agile Robots, a company based in Germany, via its DeepMind subsidiary.

The goal of this collaboration is to integrate DeepMind's multimodal AI models, capable of processing visual, language, and tactile inputs, into Agile Robots' industrial systems. The Munich-based company has delivered over 20,000 robotic devices globally. The company aims to leverage this technology to enhance automation in electronics manufacturing, automotive production, logistics, and data centers.

Agile Robots stated that this collaboration will focus on improving robot performance by using robots in real-world environments, collecting data, and continuously training models. The project combines DeepMind's Gemini Robotics model with Agile's existing hardware and AI solutions.

This move aligns with Alphabet's broader strategy to enter "physical AI" (i.e., applying machine learning models to real-world environments). Earlier this year, the company also collaborated with Boston Dynamics and other robotics companies on humanoid systems.

Since its establishment in 2018, Agile Robots has secured over $270 million in investments from backers including SoftBank Vision Fund and Xiaomi. This agreement indicates that competition in the industrial automation sector is intensifying as companies seek to apply powerful AI in real-world systems
