# Meta's stock price fell by 3.2% after the company laid off hundreds of employees

Meta's stock price fell 3.2% in early trading on Thursday. According to a report late Wednesday, the company plans to cut hundreds of jobs across the organization, including in its Reality Labs division.

The report stated that the layoffs will affect employees in the social media department, recruitment business, and sales teams. Reality Labs, responsible for developing virtual reality hardware, has reported operational losses exceeding $80 billion since 2021.

A spokesperson stated that the team will undergo regular restructuring based on objectives, and the company will seek other positions for affected employees whenever possible.

These layoffs come as Meta is heavily investing in artificial intelligence infrastructure in an effort to compete with Google, Amazon, and Microsoft
