# Meta invests in the construction of seven new natural gas power plants

Meta Platforms is investing in the construction of seven new natural gas power plants to supply power to its largest data center.

Against the backdrop of an accelerating artificial intelligence race, the company's reliance on fossil fuels has further increased.

A local subsidiary of the American power company Entergy announced in a statement last Friday that Meta has reached a new agreement with them, under which Meta will fund the construction of sufficient natural gas power plants to provide a total of 5.2 gigawatts of electricity for its data center being developed in rural Louisiana
