# Apple Hoards Mobile DRAM at High Prices, Affecting MediaTek and Samsung

According to reports, Apple is hoarding all available mobile DRAM on the market at extremely high prices, with the objective of preventing competitors from obtaining sufficient chips. This strategy has already shown initial results: both MediaTek and Qualcomm have reduced their 4nm chip production, corresponding to a decrease of 15 to 20 million mobile chip units in supply, with the mid-to-low-end smartphone market being significantly impacted. Samsung has also raised prices for several tablets and phones in South Korea, indirectly reflecting chip cost pressures.
