Its Business Development Executive Emre Jabban detailed the Turkish company’s current pipeline of over 1.5 GWh and the challenges in conducting large-scale storage projects. In an interview with Balkan Green Energy News, he outlined the group’s transition from EPC provider to potential strategic co-investor in the evolving energy landscape. Which markets are you targeting next and should we expect new projects soon? The North Macedonia project was a major milestone for us. It represents the first large-scale solar-plus-storage integration of its kind in the country and one of the first in the Western Balkans at 30 MW / 60 MWh scale. Successfully delivering this project has significantly strengthened our regional credibility. > Success in the delivery of the Novaci project has bolstered YESS Power’s regional credibility Our primary focus markets moving forward are: - Western Balkans - Southeast Europe - Türkiye We are currently engaged in multiple active discussions across these regions. While some initiatives are still at a confidential stage, our near-term pipeline exceeds 1.5 GWh in various development phases. We expect to see several of these projects move into execution stages within the next 12–24 months. #### What are YESS Power’s most significant BESS projects to date, and what are your strategic growth ambitions in the coming years? To date, our flagship project is a solar-plus-storage installation delivered in North Macedonia in partnership with Cubenergy. It is a technically advanced system designed to enhance grid flexibility, improve renewable integration, and support overall system stability in the region. The project reflects our capability to engineer and deliver high-quality hybrid energy solutions in emerging and dynamic markets. Looking ahead, our focus is on scaling our presence across utility-scale standalone BESS and hybrid solar-plus-storage applications. Rather than emphasizing specific capacity figures, our strategy is centered on sustainable, high-quality growth and long-term regional portfolio expansion. It is also important to note that our parent company, Topkapı Endüstri, already manages an energy systems portfolio exceeding 1 GWh in active operations on the Jenbacher gas engine side. With YESS Power as our dedicated energy storage brand, we aim to build a similarly strong and impactful position in the energy storage sector, aligning with our broader vision of becoming a comprehensive and integrated energy solutions provider. #### What were the main challenges when implementing the large-scale BESS project in North Macedonia? As with many emerging storage markets, regulatory and permitting frameworks are still evolving. That naturally requires close coordination with authorities, grid operators and investors. The main challenges included: - Grid integration studies and compliance alignment - Adapting international technology standards to local regulations - Coordinating multiple stakeholders across borders However, our 40-plus years of engineering experience through Topkapı Endüstri allowed us to manage these complexities efficiently. Today, YESS Power’s core strength lies in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), as well as long-term service capabilities. However, strategically, we are evaluating selective co-investment or minority participation models in projects where it makes sense. Energy storage is evolving beyond pure EPC into long-term energy infrastructure, and we want to position ourselves accordingly. > YESS Power is considering co-investment or minority participation on a case-to-case basis That said, we remain technology-neutral and partnership-oriented. Our flexibility allows us to operate as: - EPC contractor - Technology integrator - Service provider - Strategic co-investor (case-by-case basis) #### Is your partnership with Cubenergy exclusive? Are you exploring additional strategic partners? Our partnership with Cubenergy covers specific territories including Türkiye, Western Balkans and parts of Eastern Europe on an exclusive cooperation basis.
