WINNIPEG, Manitoba--Intercontinental Exchange canola futures were higher at mid-session Monday, although the upticks was softer than those on Friday.
The November contract was within C$20 per tonne of its contract high.
"That's one of those things where the canola harvest is coming at us soon," said an analyst, noting the upside may be limited.
Alberta reported on Friday that the vast majority of its canola was podding and the crop rated 50 per cent good to excellent.
The province projected dryland canola yields to reach 38 bushels per acre.
Demand continued to be good for canola, with the Canadian Grain Commission reporting canola exports for the first week of the 2026-27 crop year of 231,000 tonnes compared to 92,000 during the last week of 2025-26. At 252,400 tonnes, domestic use stepped back from 304,600.
"There's a heck of a lot of grain moving, all old crop," the analyst said.
Canola was drawing support from sharp gains in the Chicago soy complex, along with more modest increases in European rapeseed, but Malaysian palm was relatively steady. Crude oil was steady to higher, offering little direction to the vegetable oils.
The Canadian dollar was virtually unchanged by late Monday morning, with the loonie at 72.09 U.S. cents.
