# Taiwan Semiconductor's US factory has not produced a single chip in 4 years

Taiwan's "Storm Media" quoted an article from the American "New York Times" on the 12th, detailing the challenges faced by Taiwan Semiconductor in building a factory in the United States, once again sparking heated discussions on the island. Since first announcing plans to build a factory in the United States in May 2020, Taiwan Semiconductor has successively planned to build three factories in Arizona, with a total investment of up to $65 billion, making it the largest foreign direct investment project in U.S. history. However, four years have passed and the Arizona factory of Taiwan Semiconductor has yet to produce any semiconductor products. "Facing challenges much greater than expected" According to Taiwan Semiconductor's plan, the first wafer fab in Arizona, USA, using 4-nanometer process technology is expected to start production in the first half of 2025; the second wafer fab will adopt the world's most advanced 2-nanometer process technology with the next generation of nanoscale transistor structures, and is expected to start production in 2028
