# US Media: Tesla achieves its best sales performance in China in August this year

The Wall Street Journal reported on the 3rd that preliminary data released by the China Passenger Car Market Information Joint Committee of the China Automobile Dealers Association showed that Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory delivered 86,970 vehicles in August, a 17% increase from the previous month; domestic sales in August reached 63,000 vehicles, setting a new monthly sales record in China for the year with a 37% month-on-month increase. However, Tesla's sales growth in China in August still lags behind its major Chinese competitors. Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD saw a 35% year-on-year increase in sales in August, reaching 370,854 vehicles, setting a new historical high and marking the sixth consecutive month the company has sold over 300,000 vehicles. In addition, Tesla's second-quarter financial report released in July this year showed that despite measures such as price reductions and offering low-interest financing to boost sales, the company's quarterly profit still plummeted by 45% year-on-year
