# Xiaohongshu tops the download chart of the Apple App Store in the United States, with a large number of TikTok "international refugees" shifting their base

A large number of "international refugees" from TikTok are flooding into Xiaohongshu, which doesn't even have an English version, leaving many onlookers "dazed."

As the "deadline" on January 19 approaches, some users migrating from TikTok have chosen not to use platforms like Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, which are TikTok's competitors in the U.S., but instead decided to join another Chinese social media platform: Xiaohongshu.

Subsequently, they posted photos and videos of themselves and their lives on the platform, calling themselves TikTok refugees from the U.S., and shared why they migrated to another Chinese app. According to some American TikTok users, they heard that Xiaohongshu is similar to TikTok, so they joined TikTok out of resentment towards the U.S. government.

Soon, Xiaohongshu became the number one app on the Apple U.S. charts, while Lemon8, a lifestyle community app powered by TikTok, temporarily slipped to second place.

Interestingly, pictures of their pets became the best "icebreaker" for American refugees settling into Xiaohongshu. Netizens from both China and the U.S. quickly "hit it off," with one Xiaohongshu user even taking the opportunity to ask an American TikTok user for help with his English homework.
