# Tesla accuses former Optimus engineer of stealing trade secrets and establishing a competing company

Tesla, Inc. (TSLA) has filed a lawsuit against a former engineer who worked on the Optimus humanoid robot team, accusing him of stealing confidential information about the company's humanoid robot and establishing a competing startup.

According to reports, Tesla stated in documents submitted to the San Francisco federal court that Jay Li, who worked from August 2022 to September 2024, downloaded files related to the Optimus project using two personal mobile phones.

Tesla pointed out that Jay Li founded Proception within a week of leaving the company. Tesla alleges that a robotic arm product released by the company bears "striking" similarities to its technology
