# In July, domestic diesel engine sales reached 367,200 units, a year-on-year increase of 6.68%

According to Zhitong Finance APP, on August 14, the First Commercial Vehicle Network reported that in July 2025, domestic diesel engine sales reached 367,200 units, a month-on-month decrease of 11.39% and a year-on-year increase of 6.68%; from January to July, cumulative diesel engine sales totaled 3.0322 million units, surpassing the 3 million mark, with a year-on-year growth of 4.45%. July is traditionally a sales off-season, but both the monthly and cumulative year-on-year growth rates of diesel engine sales improved compared to the previous month.

The multi-cylinder diesel engines closely related to the commercial vehicle market did not continue the month-on-month growth in July, but the year-on-year data was relatively good. In July 2025, sales of multi-cylinder diesel engines for commercial vehicles reached 139,400 units, a month-on-month decrease of 16.71% and a year-on-year increase of 12.84%; from January to July, cumulative sales were 1.1621 million units, a year-on-year increase of 3.55%, with the cumulative sales growth rate improving by 1.11 percentage points compared to January to June.

In July, China's commercial vehicle production and sales reached 298,000 units and 306,000 units, respectively, with month-on-month decreases of 15.8% and 17.1%, and year-on-year increases of 16.3% and 14.1%. From January to July 2025, commercial vehicle production and sales totaled 2.397 million units and 2.428 million units, with year-on-year increases of 6% and 3.9%. The multi-cylinder diesel engine market showed synchronized fluctuations, also experiencing a month-on-month decline, but with year-on-year growth.

In July 2025, China's multi-cylinder diesel engine sales were 289,200 units, a month-on-month decrease of 12.3% and a year-on-year increase of 6.14%; from January to July, cumulative sales reached 2.4441 million units, a year-on-year increase of 4.14%, with the growth rate continuing to rise compared to January to June. Among them, the top ten companies in cumulative sales are: Weichai, Yuchai, Yunnei, Quanchai, Xinchai, Dongfeng Cummins, Jiangling, Jiefang Power, Honeycomb Power, and New Power Technology, with the cumulative sales of the top ten accounting for 77.85% of the total sales of multi-cylinder diesel engines, a slight increase compared to January to June (77.84%).

From the perspective of July's single-month performance, the vast majority of companies did not achieve month-on-month sales growth. Among them, Weichai regained the championship position, selling 53,900 multi-cylinder diesel engines, achieving a month-on-month growth of 17.13%, being the only company in the top ten to achieve month-on-month growth; the second place was Yuchai, with sales of 44,600 units; the third place was Anhui Quanchai, with sales of 21,000 units. In mid-July, at the establishment conference of the Anhui Representative Office's Business School, Quanchai Power Systems elaborated on the threefold confidence in empowering the industrial chain: deep technical cultivation to combat market competition; extreme verification to end fault anxiety with zero tolerance quality control; and heartfelt service to break operational competition with lifelong protection. Yunnei Power ranked fourth, selling 19,900 multi-cylinder diesel engines in July. In July, Yunnei Power and Bosch engaged in in-depth discussions again, exchanging views on current trends, technical challenges, and opportunities in the power market. Both parties expressed hope to broaden cooperation areas to jointly respond to industry changes, create greater value for customers, and jointly shape the blueprint for future power systems. The fifth place was Zhejiang Xinchai, with sales of 18,600 units. In July, all top ten companies had monthly sales exceeding 10,000 units. The cumulative sales data in the table shows that from January to July 2025, Weichai still maintains its lead, with cumulative sales of over 400,000 multi-cylinder diesel engines, reaching 430,400 units, accounting for a market share of 17.61%; the second place remains Yuchai, with cumulative sales of 352,700 units, achieving a year-on-year growth of 28.90%, and a market share of 14.43%, significantly increasing its share by 3.14% compared to the same period last year; in third place is Yunnei Power, with cumulative sales reaching 213,100 units, accounting for a market share of 8.72%; fourth place is Anhui Quanchai, with cumulative sales also breaking the 200,000 unit mark, reaching 209,500 units, achieving a year-on-year growth of 12.54%, capturing 8.57% of the market share, an increase of 0.89% compared to the same period last year; fifth place is still Zhejiang Xinchai, with cumulative sales of 157,200 units, achieving a year-on-year growth of 3.29%, and a market share of 6.43%, an increase of 0.15% compared to the same period last year; sixth place is Dongfeng Cummins, with cumulative sales of 130,000 units, achieving a year-on-year growth of 11.78%, and a market share of 5.32%, an increase of 0.52% compared to the same period last year.

Jiefang Power ranks eighth, rising one place compared to January to June, with cumulative sales of multi-cylinder diesel engines of 100,200 units from January to July 2025, accounting for a market share of 4.10%; New Power Technology achieved year-on-year growth, with cumulative sales from January to July of 98,000 units, achieving a year-on-year growth of 16.53%, and a market share of 4.01%, an increase of 0.54% compared to the same period last year.

In July 2025, the sales of multi-cylinder diesel engines for commercial vehicles were 139,400 units, a month-on-month decrease of 16.71%, and a year-on-year growth of 12.84%; from January to July, cumulative sales reached 1,162,100 units, a year-on-year growth of 3.55%. The top ten cumulative sales enterprises are: Weichai, Yuchai, Yunnei, Jiangling, Foton Cummins, Quanchai, Jiefang Power, Jianghuai, Dongfeng Cummins, and New Power Technology, with no changes in ranking compared to January to June. The sales of the top ten account for 88.26% of total sales, slightly down compared to January to June.

Looking at the sales in July alone, Weichai continues to be the champion, with monthly sales of 29,100 units of multi-cylinder diesel engines for commercial vehicles, a month-on-month growth of 18.05%; the runner-up is still Yuchai, with monthly sales of 20,200 units; Jiangling ranks third, with sales of 13,500 units; fourth place is Foton Cummins, with sales of 13,000 units; and fifth place is Yunnei Power, with sales of 10,300 units. All five of the top sales in July exceeded 10,000 units. Next, let's look at the cumulative sales performance of each company.

According to the cumulative sales data in the table above, from January to July 2025, Weichai remains the champion, with cumulative sales of 236,700 multi-cylinder diesel engines for commercial vehicles, accounting for a market share of 20.37%; Yuchai continues to rank second, with cumulative sales of 154,400 units, achieving a year-on-year growth of 47.77%, with an increase in growth rate compared to January to June, and a market share of 13.29%, significantly increasing by 4.45% compared to the same period last year; the third place is Yunnei Power, with cumulative sales of 124,000 units, achieving a year-on-year growth of 5.09%, capturing a market share of 10.67%, with a growth of 0.69% compared to the same period last year. Jiangling Motors ranks fourth, with cumulative sales of 113,300 units, accounting for a market share of 9.75%. The top four are the only companies with cumulative sales exceeding 100,000 units.

The sixth place, Anhui Quanchai, also achieved growth in cumulative sales, with cumulative sales of 68,400 units from January to July 2025, achieving a year-on-year growth of 27.52%, with a market share of 5.89%, an increase of 1.35% compared to the same period last year
