# The 2024 China Ocean Development Index was released in Qingdao

On September 8th, at the 2025 Ocean Cooperation Development Forum, the National Ocean Information Center and the China Ocean Development Research Association jointly released the "2025 China Ocean Development Index Report." The report shows that in 2024, the national marine GDP will exceed 10 trillion yuan for the first time, an increase of 5.9% compared to the previous year, indicating a stable and positive marine economy. The total import and export volume of maritime transport increased by 1.9% compared to the previous year, and the trade volume between China and the coastal countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative increased by 6.3% compared to the previous year. The actual foreign investment used in coastal areas accounts for about 80% of the national total.
