# After the US CPI "rose as expected," market expectations for interest rate cuts soared

Overnight, despite the U.S. CPI not exceeding market expectations, the market's expectations for a rate cut in October have risen significantly (the expectation for a 50 basis point rate cut in September is still only around 10%).
