The U.S. Federal Trade Commission is examining whether Amazon and Google misled advertisers in their search advertising businesses, focusing on whether the two companies adequately disclosed advertising terms and pricing mechanisms.

According to informed sources, the FTC's consumer protection division is reviewing Amazon's advertising auction system, particularly whether the company disclosed the "floor price" settings for certain search ads to advertisers.
