# DBS Bank: As the Japanese Liberal Democratic Party elections approach, the yen is expected to continue strengthening

According to Jin10 data on October 2, DBS Bank analyst Philip Wee commented that the Japanese yen may continue to strengthen against the US dollar ahead of the Liberal Democratic Party leadership election on Saturday. Recent polls indicate that candidate Shinjiro Koizumi has gained momentum over another candidate, Sanae Takaichi. The analyst stated, "The market believes that a victory for Koizumi would be beneficial for the yen, as he is seen as more pragmatic in fiscal policy and supports closer cooperation with the Bank of Japan on monetary policy normalization."
