# Apple is reportedly preparing its first touchscreen Mac computer, which may debut as early as the end of 2026

Apple Inc. is preparing to launch a touchscreen version of the Mac computer, marking a shift from the stance maintained since the era of co-founder Steve Jobs.

According to insiders, Apple plans to release an upgraded MacBook Pro with a touchscreen by the end of 2026 or early 2027. The new models, codenamed K114 and K116, will feature a thinner and lighter design and will be equipped with M6 series chips.

This move indicates that Apple will follow the lead of other computer manufacturers, which began introducing touchscreen laptops over a decade ago. Apple has spent several years developing its market strategy aimed at improving existing designs.

Reports of Apple developing a touchscreen MacBook Pro first emerged in January 2023.

Insiders, who requested anonymity due to the confidential nature of the discussions, stated that the new laptops will feature OLED displays, consistent with the standards used in the iPhone and iPad Pro. This will be the first time Apple has adopted this higher-end, thinner display system in its Mac products.
