# U.S. officials deny discussions with quantum companies regarding government equity stakes

According to a report by CNBC on October 24, officials from the U.S. Department of Commerce stated that the U.S. government is not negotiating with quantum computing companies to take equity stakes in these companies in exchange for federal funding. The spokesperson said in a statement, "The Department of Commerce is currently not in negotiations with quantum computing companies regarding equity."
