# Trump says he does not plan to meet with Carney, still angry about Canada's anti-tariff ads

Trump expressed dissatisfaction again with Canada's handling of an anti-tariff advertisement and stated that he is "satisfied" with the current trade arrangement with the country, indicating that the Ontario government's announcement to pull the ad did not appease the U.S. president.

"I am very satisfied with the existing agreement. The current agreement is very favorable to us. Any agreement that could have been reached would be better for them than the current one," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One when asked what Ottawa could do to get negotiations back on track.

When asked if he planned to meet with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Trump responded, "I have no intention of doing that, no." Both Carney and Trump are set to attend two summits in Asia.

Shortly before departing, Trump called the Canadian ad "dishonest" and criticized the decision to continue airing it during the World Series in the U.S.

"I heard they were going to take down the ad; I don't know why they would air it longer," Trump told reporters at the White House. "They could have taken it down tonight. Well, that's just playing tricks — but I can be trickier than they are, you know? Really, very dishonest."

The government-funded ad, which features clips of the late U.S. President Ronald Reagan, criticizes the tariff policy. After Trump's criticism, Ontario Premier Doug Ford posted on social media platform X that the ad would be pulled after the games on Friday and Saturday.

"We have always aimed to initiate a dialogue about what kind of economy Americans want to build and the impact of tariffs on workers and businesses," Ford wrote. "We have achieved our goal and conveyed the message to the highest levels in the U.S."

He stated that after speaking with Carney, he decided to pause the ad starting next Monday "so that trade negotiations can resume."

However, Trump's remarks indicate that he does not intend to let the matter drop. Last year, trade in goods and services between the U.S. and Canada reached $900 billion, with supply chains in major industries closely intertwined, but this incident has introduced new uncertainties into their relationship.

The 60-second television ad aired in some Republican-controlled areas of the U.S., and Trump reacted strongly to its content, claiming that Reagan's comments were used "deceptively" and announced that he would terminate all trade negotiations with Canada as a result.

He posted on Truth Social on Thursday night, stating: "In light of their extremely bad behavior, I am terminating all trade negotiations with Canada."

He reiterated this criticism on Friday, stating that Canada "falsified" the ad.

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute also criticized Ontario's actions, stating that the ad used Reagan's speech content without authorization and misrepresented the entirety of Reagan's remarks
