# Understanding the Market | AIA Group rises over 5% as third-quarter new business value significantly exceeds expectations and outperforms peers

According to Zhitong Finance APP, AIA Group (01299) has risen over 5% again, with a current increase of 5.04%, priced at HKD 79.25, and a transaction volume of HKD 2.664 billion.

On the news front, AIA recently announced that its new business value for the third quarter grew by 27% at actual exchange rates to USD 1.48 billion, with a new business value profit margin of 58.2%. The annualized new premium increased by 15% at actual exchange rates; the total weighted premium income for the third quarter was USD 11.91 billion. Goldman Sachs stated that given the quarterly new business value significantly exceeded expectations and outperformed its closest peers, AIA's stock price is expected to react positively after the earnings announcement.
