# RBC warns: The US dollar may face a risk of a 40% drop similar to the post-internet bubble collapse

Royal Bank of Canada Capital Markets (RBC Capital Markets) believes that once the current driving factors supporting the US dollar turn into headwinds, the dollar may face a boom-and-bust cycle similar to that of the internet bubble period. Therefore, traders need to proactively guard against a prolonged sell-off of the dollar that may occur.

Due to the uncertainty surrounding President Trump's policies, the dollar has been severely impacted this year. However, it has been supported by the soaring stock market and global investors' allocation to US assets, particularly highlighted by the large-scale passive investment funds
