The pilot program, which appears to be available in at least San Diego, allows customers to rent any Tesla for three to seven days starting at just $60 per day, plus taxes and fees. Unlike traditional rentals that come with mileage restrictions or extra charging costs, Tesla’s offering includes unlimited mileage and free charging at all Supercharger stations across the U.S. ### FSD (Supervised) Included Additionally , every rental includes access to Full Self-Driving (Supervised). The inclusion of FSD gives renters a first-hand look at Tesla’s latest software and helps the company introduce more people to its autonomous driving technology. Renters can also use the Tesla app to monitor and control the vehicle during their rental period, just like an owner would. This includes features such as remote climate control, charging management, and vehicle location tracking. ### Test Before You Buy — With a Credit Tesla is also offering a financial incentive for those who decide to buy after renting. Customers who order a new Tesla within seven days of returning their rental can receive up to a US$250 credit toward their purchase. The program is clearly aimed at encouraging potential buyers to spend extended time behind the wheel before making a commitment — a strategy that blends Tesla’s existing demo drive program with a more flexible and immersive ownership-style experience. ### Expanding Beyond San Diego Although the rental program is currently limited to Tesla’s San Diego location, it’s expected to expand to other major markets in the near future if demand proves strong. By offering direct rentals, Tesla gains another way to connect with customers without relying on traditional rental companies or dealerships — aligning with its direct-to-consumer approach.
