# The "Innovation and Technology Industry Guidance Fund" is accepting applications from fund managers, with a deadline of January 16 next year

The Innovation and Technology Commission announced that it is now accepting applications to become the fund manager of the "Innovation and Technology Industry Guidance Fund," with a deadline of January 16 next year.

A spokesperson for the Innovation and Technology Commission stated that the government hopes to leverage the guiding and leveraging role of government funds through the "Innovation and Technology Industry Guidance Fund" to attract more social capital to invest in the innovation and technology industry, supporting the development of strategic emerging and future industries.

The Innovation and Technology Industry Guidance Fund has been allocated HKD 10 billion by the Legislative Council and will invest in five thematic sectors, including life and health technology, artificial intelligence and robotics, semiconductors and smart devices, digitalization and upgrading transformation, as well as future and sustainable development.

To lead market capital investment, the government will play a "platform" role, hoping to attract a certain number of strategic investors, each contributing no less than HKD 3 billion, to invest alongside the government in various sub-funds under the thematic sectors as limited partners. The government will select qualified professional fund managers to establish the sub-funds. In addition to the contributions from the government and strategic investors, fund managers must also bring in other market investors as limited partners to invest in the sub-funds. The government's commitment to each sub-fund will be capped at HKD 1 billion and will not exceed 25% of the sub-fund's size. The overall target size for the sub-funds is at least HKD 40 billion.

Selected fund managers will act as general partners of the sub-funds, responsible for establishing Hong Kong limited partnership funds of no less than HKD 2 billion (including government contributions), raising funds from sources other than the government for the sub-funds, managing the daily operations of the sub-funds, identifying investment targets according to the investment framework, providing support to invested enterprises, and submitting regular reports
