# Report: Cook has no plans to step down for the time being

Earlier this month, media reports indicated that Cook would step down as CEO of Apple, potentially as early as next year. The reports suggested that Apple is unlikely to appoint a new CEO before the release of its next financial report at the end of January, but if the change can be officially announced at the beginning of the year, the management transition could be smoothly completed before the June Worldwide Developers Conference and the September iPhone launch event. However, well-known Apple leaker Mark Gurman disagreed with the above reports. According to his sources, Apple CEO Cook is unlikely to leave before mid-next year, and there are no internal signs indicating that Cook is about to step down; the aforementioned reports are purely false information
