# Google's AI chip TPU reportedly acquired by Meta, Nvidia's stock price fell after hours

Nvidia's stock price fell in after-hours trading after The Information reported earlier that Meta Platforms Inc. is in talks to spend billions of dollars to purchase Google's artificial intelligence (AI) chips, indicating that the internet search giant has made progress in creating products that can compete with the industry's best-selling AI accelerator processors.

The Information cited an unnamed source as saying that Meta is negotiating to use these tensor processing unit (TPU) chips in data centers by 2027. According to the report, Meta may also lease chips from Google's cloud division next year.

Alphabet, Google's parent company, saw its stock price rise as much as 2.7% in after-hours trading, while Nvidia's stock price fell by as much as 2.7%.

A representative for Meta declined to comment, and Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment
