# Hong Kong runners hit the track to raise funds for Tai Po victims

Runners completed laps of the track at Stanley Ho Sports Centre in Hong Kong’s Sandy Bay on Saturday to help raise funds for victims of the Tai Po fire tragedy.\\nThose jogging to chalk up the laps were drawn from various construction companies and were taking part in the 10th anniversary edition of the Lap Dog Challenge.\\nThe challenge typically focuses on supporting those connected with the construction industry who are victims of accidents and ill health.\\n\\nThis year, money was raised for the government’s support fund for Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, where a fire that broke out on November 26 claimed at least 159 lives and left an estimated 4,000 people homeless.\\nAn initial HK$500,000 was pledged for Tai Po, while funds were also raised for the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation and the Lighthouse Club Hong Kong Benevolent Fund.\\nThe Lighthouse Club is a charity that supports those in need in the construction industry.\\n
