# Amazon Web Services launches a unified pricing model to completely eliminate the risk of cloud cost overruns

Amazon Web Services recently announced the launch of fixed-rate packages for website delivery and security, eliminating overage charges. According to the company, these packages combine its global content delivery capabilities with multiple AWS services and features, providing services for a fixed monthly fee, regardless of whether a user's website or application goes viral or experiences a DDoS attack, without incurring overage fees.

The company stated that the fixed-rate packages are offered in a simple monthly fee format, including CloudFront CDN, AWS WAF and DDoS protection, bot management and analytics, Amazon Route 53 DNS, Amazon CloudWatch Logs data ingestion, serverless edge computing, and a monthly Amazon S3 storage quota. Additionally, these packages offer four tiers: Free ($0/month), Pro ($15/month), Business ($200/month), and Premium ($1000/month) to meet users' application needs.

Christian Graziano, Chief Product Manager at Amazon Web Services, stated:

Graziano pointed out that CloudFront, launched by Amazon Web Services in 2008 as a global content delivery network, has evolved alongside AWS customers, enabling users to effectively scale their applications. AWS's pay-as-you-go billing model includes a free tier of 1TB, providing users with flexibility without upfront costs. However, due to pricing complexity and factors such as product launches or DDoS attacks, customers often face unpredictable costs. To address this, Amazon Web Services decided to improve the system by eliminating charges for AWS WAF intercepted requests and providing affordable DDoS protection. Furthermore, AWS has launched fixed-rate packages covering core services (including a free tier) to ensure cost predictability and support personal websites and educational projects in avoiding unexpected expenses.

Luc Donkersgoed, Serverless Hero at Amazon Web Services, provided deeper insights into this strategic change:

Additionally, Christian Greciano, an AI software engineer at Reakto, also commented on the shift to a fixed-rate model on LinkedIn:
