# International Air Transport Association: Passenger traffic is expected to reach a new high in 2026

(Agence France-Presse Geneva, 9th) The International Air Transport Association (IATA) stated today that despite the industry's impact from multiple global adverse factors, several international airlines still estimate that next year's passenger volume will reach a new high of 5.2 billion.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) added that airlines now also expect this year's profits to exceed previous forecasts and estimate that next year's profits will remain at a similar level.

The International Air Transport Association is composed of approximately 360 airlines, covering 80% of global air traffic. The association pointed out that this year's profits are expected to reach $39.5 billion, higher than the $36 billion estimated during the annual meeting held in June this year.

IATA Chairman Willie Walsh mentioned that despite the impact of trade disputes initiated by the United States, the improvement in the industry's outlook is attributed to better-than-expected performance in air freight.

The association also noted that next year's profits are estimated to reach $41 billion, but the ongoing issue of insufficient aircraft supply may limit the surge in performance.

In addition, this year's passenger volume is expected to approach the 5 billion mark, reaching 4.98 billion, setting a new record compared to last year's 4.77 billion
